    Thanks

      Hi Graham.

Do you have access to the Macquarie Dictionary? Here’s an extract:

      dinger
      /’dinguh/.
      noun
      1. who or that which dings.
      2. Colloquial the buttocks; arse.
      3. Colloquial a shanghai; catapult.

      Best

  2. Carole Peacock says:

Hello David, I always enjoyed doing quick crosswords while listening to a podcast. Recently I decided to learn the cryptic version. After ‘Solving Cryptics for Dummies’ I’ve started attempting your c/w in the AFR. Delighted to solve a few clues without aid, further delight when I look at the answer and understand the clue. But, the last one left me in some despair – SPUD; DINGER AND HOOTER oh yes, and the PORKPIES!
I will persevere because you provide the explanation on this website. So many thanks even if I may go mad.
    Caro
