Good to be back to tackle the Stickler after the break. Gentle loosener unlike what Johnson has been unleashing.
Cheers
It looks like I figured it out but it will not congratulate me!
Can we have a save button as my printer is not plugged in?
It’s on my list Robert. Stay tuned.
*Spoiler alert* I love how your crosswords increase my vocabulary. Sometimes I work out the clue and look at the result thinking I’ve never heard or read this word before! Look up the trusty Oxford and there it is… ‘palter’; who would have thunk it 🙂
Yes, Jani, that’s definitely one of the joys of cryptic crosswords and also unique in the crossword world. Having two ways to get the answer means as long as the wordplay is good enough, you can work out the answer without knowing the word. In a normal crossword, if you don’t know the answer, there’s no second chance.
Best
David
